SIGNAL- Project with Truckers on HIV-AIDS

The Truckers project was envisaged with a felt need to prevent the transmission of HIV-AIDS among truckers. This project was in collaboration with Mumbai District aids Control Society (MDACS). The project started in 1999 and was exited in 2007. As per the new guidelines of National Aids Control Organization (NACO), the project was handed over to the Truckers Association.

However, we decided to continue providing outreach services, 6 days a week and medical/ clinical services, 3 days a week. To support this activity we raise funds through individual donors and use funds from the income generated from typing – computer institute.

The project operates in the Octroi Check Post of Mulund Check naka (west).Training was provided to truck drivers, cleaners, and other stake holders operating in the project area.
